Witchery: Balance Your Chakras Using Affirmations

As anyone who knows about chakras will tell you, it is our thoughts, which create our reality. This is the basis for magick as well, which may help to explain why so many witches have studied and learned to use their chakras within their magick. As practitioners of witchcraft, we know that with intent, will, and thought, we create and control that which surrounds us.

Keeping your chakras balanced is a simple matter of using affirmations to create the reality of balanced chakras. Each chakra is a center of energy and each energy is specialized to a specific chakra. As such, affirmations should be tailored to the energy of the individualized chakra.

To begin, you may choose to sit upright with proper posture or lie flat and straight. Make certain you are in a comfortable position that will not distract you from the task of centering and balancing your chakras. Prepare yourself with diaphragmatic (deep and measured) breathing.

Take your time as you work through each chakra and visualize each one as a wheel spinning in a clockwise direction pointing out from your body. You should visualize each one as the correct color associated with each chakra. As you visualize the chakra glowing repeat the affirmations aloud or think them silently to yourself, which ever you prefer.

  1. Root Chakra – This one is found at the base of your spine. It should be a deep red. This chakra corresponds to your basic human instincts of self-preservation, inherited beliefs and identification with the physical world, survival, security, and stability.

Affirmation: I am a stable and dependable person. I can survive and thrive in this world.

  1. Sacral Chakra – This one is found directly beneath your navel. It should be a deep, dark orange. This chakra corresponds to relationships, creativity, sexuality, control and money, spiritual passion, and reproduction.

Affirmation: I am a creative and prosperous person. I have successful relationships filled with passion.

  1. Solar Plexus Chakra – This one is found directly over your stomach and above the navel. It should be a full and vibrant yellow. This chakra corresponds to intelligence, growth, your personal power, self-esteem, self-honoring, and spiritual evolution.

Affirmation: I am an intelligent and powerful person. I respect myself and honor myself as I grow in spirit.

  1. Heart Chakra – This one is found in the very center of your chest over your heart. It should be a vivid green. This chakra corresponds to the sacred spark of the divine, intuition, forgiveness, compassion, well-being, and unconditional love.

Affirmation: I am a forgiving and compassionate person. I trust my intuition to lead me to increase my well-being and guide me to those who deserve unconditional love.

  1. Throat Chakra – This one is found at the base of your throat. It should be a rich, pale blue. This chakra corresponds to truth, willpower, self-empowerment, independence, the ability to trust, communication of thoughts and ideas, and maturity.

Affirmation: I am honest, empowered, and independent. I communicate well, give and deserve trust, and have great willpower.

  1. Third Eye Chakra – This one is found in the very center of your forehead, just between your eyebrows. It should be a dark and lustrous blue. This chakra corresponds to your ability to experience self-realization, the ability to envision or visualize, perception, access divine vision, experience inner guidance, use intuitive clarity, and release repressed emotions.

Affirmation: I can see myself clearly and trust my inner voice. My perception and intuitive clarity lead me to excel.

  1. Crown Chakra – This one is found on the top of your head just as a crown would be. It should be a provocative violet. This chakra corresponds to your attaining enlightenment, to the awakening of your consciousness, inspiration, and divination.

Affirmation: I gain enlightenment and inspiration from all around me. My consciousness grows daily as I divine the correct path for myself.

Chakra balancing affirmations can create extraordinary revolutions in our spiritual healing journey. There can be nothing more effective and trans-formative than using your very own power of thought to bring positive changes in your body, mind and soul.

First Accidental Astral Travel

The first time I ever traveled the astral plane was completely by accident. I had heard of astral travel and had even read a book about it a few years before, but I had not thought that I understood the process. I had a very high fever and was at home in bed all day, or so I thought, initially. However, I was so miserable that I imagined I was leaving my body and floating away from it.

My school friends swore that I had not been around for the party that afternoon, yet I was able to tell them exactly what they had done. Right down to who had split her pants on the trampoline in the back yard. At first, I thought I was just dreaming but the conversations were surreal to me. I witnessed conversations which were ultra private were being discussed between two girls who were best friends, whom I was not close to, during the party. I kept wondering, “Why on earth would they talk about such private issues with me standing right here”?

A few weeks later, during school, a conversation came up about Debbie’s pants and I told them I already knew about it because I had been there. They said that I had not been there because my mom said I was sick and could not attend the party. I kept insisting that they must have been discussing a different party, because I remembered the color of the panties she was wearing and that everyone had laughed and said that at least she was wearing some, and yes, they were the color I mentioned. I, then, mentioned some of the broader topics of conversation and everyone agreed that they had occurred, but that I must have overheard someone talking about them.

If that were the extent of the situation, I would not have remarked it as exceptionally odd. However, a few days later I was talking with my best friend about how a girl we knew from school, but who was not at all close to us, was going to feel terrible about having to go away to a new school because she was pregnant (yes… I came from an incredibly small town, and this was the mid-seventies, after all) another girl overheard who was a close friend of the girl who was the subject of the conversation. I was insulted, and called every name in the book and then they asked how I knew. I said I had heard them talking about it about Cindy’s and Debbie’s house. I was accused of lying because the only time they had ever discussed it outside of the pregnant girl’s bedroom was in the bathroom at the party, and I was not at the party, nor in the bathroom at the time, so how did I know about it?

That one even stumped me, and increased the “that girl is weird” mutterings and opinions of others in our far-flung group. From that time on, I was officially “that weird girl” in school and the popular girls… i.e. the pregnant girl and her friends never did like me again. Fear of what is unknown, perhaps, but I just knew that I aware of things I was not supposed to know anything about.

I did wonder for a few years about that particular item of gossip and how I had come across it since I distinctly recalled seeing and hearing them talking about it. My answer did not come until several years later after I had become a witch, when I learned in depth about astral travel and the possibilities, which it entailed.

Witchery: Astral Travel Basics

Astral travel, also known as, astral projection, is the act of removing your spiritual or etheric self from your corporeal self.  This can be achieved in several different manners, some intentional, and some accidental. The reasons or causes for this projection from the physical body can be due to a serious illness, were the spirit may seek to escape the pain that the corporeal boy is feeling, it can be a result of a self induced or even a guided trance state, some people use psychotropic drugs to achieve the release, it can even be related to a sudden approach of death, such as after an accident.

One thing that each of the intentional means of astral travel has in common (which cannot be stressed enough) is the need to practice to achieve the best results. Contrary to some of the popular myths making the rounds on the internet, this is not a skill that can be perfected after just a few tries. There are far too many variables that need to be considered and accounted for before the process of astral travel becomes something that you can do easily and safely.

The process of leaving your physical body behind is not a simple step. It takes a great deal of practice. Even when you do finally achieve it, the sudden feeling of being in your etheric body may feel so distinctly different that many people have a reported a tendency to “snap” back into their corporeal forms simply due to the fact that their etheric, or astral, body has such a different feeling to it.

There are many different methods for learning how to astrally project yourself from a physical or corporeal body, into an etheric, or astral body.

First, you will want to find a place where you can be physically comfortable. You can either choose to sit in a comfortable chair that supports your physical body, or you may choose to lie down on a comfortable surface.

Make certain loosen or remove any restricting clothing.

Choose a position that you feel will be comfortable for an extended period of time.

Start by grounding and centering yourself, erasing all worries from your mind, ridding yourself of any other thoughts that may distract you.

Next, you need to do some deep breathing. Breathe in through your nose until you can feel your entire body filling with air as if it goes all the way down to your toes, then hold it for a few seconds, and slowly let the air escape back out through your mouth. Continue to do these until you feel your entire body start to tingle with the increased flow of oxygen. As you feel the tingle let it expand in your body until you feel as if you are floating on the air you breathe.

Visualize a white light surrounding your body, see the light as it covers you like a soft blanket from head to toes and on all sides. Feel the light as it bathes your body in protection. Know in your heart that nothing, neither entity nor energy can attack your body while you are absent from it.

When you have achieved this, you need to begin to light up your chakras one by one. Begin by visualizing a soft red light emanating from your root chakra. Attune the light to the beat of your heart letting the light grow stronger with each heartbeat. As the light grows allow yourself to feel each pulse of the light. In your mind’s eye, see the light gently growing with your heartbeat until it is a strong, clear red. Once you have finished with that chakra, go on to the orange or sacral chakra, etc. until they are all strong, clear, and pulsing in unison.

Now you are ready to create your astral body.

Visualize living light shaped as your twin. One by one starting with your root chakra, transfer each chakra into your astral body. See them moving through the air from one form to the other and attaching securely. Once all of your chakras have transferred from your physical to your astral self, you are ready to go.

Do not be concerned if you see a thin silver cord, which connects these two bodies. That is your tether line, keeping you attached to your physical form. Contrary to what some will try to tell you, it cannot be broken, cut, or destroyed in any way unless the physical body dies.

In the beginning, you will want to take short journeys. Do not try to stay out for too long, as it is more tiring than you will initially realize. Also, do not try to go exploring other planes or worlds right away. You will need more experience with handling your astral self in locations that are drastically unfamiliar. Stay local, experiment and practice moving around in familiar places in the beginning until you can move comfortably and control your form. Pay attention to what is occurring with your form, do not allow yourself to be distracted by the new sensations you will feel as that can cause more problems than you may realize.

While you are out and about moving is very easy, you can do things the hard way by walking there, fly, or even just think yourself to your desired location, it all amounts to the same thing… you get there.

When you are ready to return to the physical body, it is as simple as thinking yourself back in. There is no need for you to try to re-attached the chakras to your physical form as they will naturally move with you back to your physical form.

Once you become familiar with the process and have successfully traveled a number of times, in areas familiar to you, try visiting a place that you know of, but one where you have never been before. Since you can travel so easily… be careful what locations you imagine. There are some places, which can be frightening if you suddenly appear there. Sometimes, being startled can cause you to snap back into your body which can cause an instance of pain and resulting soreness for some.

Special note from Az: Even though it is possible to create other forms, it is not recommend in the beginning as each form vibrates at a specific frequency. Novices should not try this because taking the form of something else always causes a certain amount of melding of your energies with those of the form you choose, and in the beginning, you will not have 100% control in those instances.
