Witches and their waters, I know. Such a simple thing, water and yet it rules our lives in so many ways. We need it to live; certainly, we need it to clean ourselves and other items in our world. We need it to grow our plants, water our livestock and pets, and here in Texas, we need it to keep our foundations from giving us fits. (Sorry, slight tangent there from the drought stricken North Texas area.)
We had a good storm the other afternoon/night and it got me to thinking about the waters some of us witches use in our magicks. Not all witches ascribe to using waters, but many do, hence the “how-to” posts of the last few days. We covered Holy Water, and we covered Mars/War Water, so on to Sun and Moon Waters.
With Moon Waters, the affects of these waters depends upon the times a witch chooses to set the waters out to charge. It harnesses the power of the new, waxing, full, and waning moons. It can harness the moon according to the Zodiac. It can harvest the power of a “super” moon; it can even harvest the changing power of the moon during an eclipse.
Dark Moon Water – This water may not be useful for everyone, but for those who practice dark spells, this water is perfect. If you need to cross, hex, or bind someone, use this water with the spell work to engage the darkest phase of the moon. When justice is called for and not available outside your spell work, casting in the dark of the moon and adding Dark Moon Water will shine a tight focus on the justice you seek.
New Moon Water – Spells that focus on new beginnings, new employment opportunities, and new relationships are best served using this water. If you open a new business or take a new job and want to encourage success, use New Moon Water with spells for these purposes to give them and extra boost of energy. Planting a new garden or tree? Use an ounce of New Moon Water with the water you soak the plants in with to help them thrive. When moving into a new home, add an ounce or two to the water you initially cleanse the house with, in blessings and consecrations of the new home. Every spell related to a new proposition, prospect or beginning benefits from the addition of this water.
Waxing Moon Water – Add to your spells as an exponential way to grow the strength of your spells and work on growing magicks. If you have spells to increase your abilities, your skill, or your knowledge, this is the water to add when you cast them. The power of the growing moon increases the potency of fertility spells. Spells to increase your wealthy, luck, business, and the health of your relationships can only benefit from the addition of Waxing Moon Water. For illness, either long term or short term, focus on growing health using this water. I would not recommend using it for health issues, such as cancer, due to the growth properties of the waxing moon. Cast the spells at the beginning of the waxing moon and allow the Waxing Moon Water and the waxing moon to combine in strength to achieve your goal.
Full Moon Water – If you have spells that require a push of extra energy, use this water to help the spell. Strength spells, spells for love and protection for family members, spells to strengthen your spiritual gifts, strengthen your health, and achieve your dreams aided by using Full Moon Water with the spell work are more effective.
Super Moon Water –If you need a big kick to your spell, add Super Moon Water to the spell. Think Full Moon Water on steroids.
Waning Moon Water – It is an additional strengthener for all of your magicks to get rid of all the things you want to remove from your life, once and for all. This is particularly useful in getting rid of diseases that linger, fighting cancers, fighting chronic pain, fighting diabetes or heart diseases related to weight. Use the Waning Moon Water with spells for with weight loss/weight banishing, or any other problems, which tend to be long lasting. Get rid of stress in your life, which causes weight gain and high blood pressure as well as a myriad of other health problems. Rid your life of people who are negative or draining, bad habits, and addictions to things you know are not good for you. Negativity you feel toward yourself or others. All things banished with spells as the moon wanes helps take them away as the moon fades to new.
Lunar Eclipse Water – When drastic change is needed use this water with your spells. If you, or someone you know, is in a terrible situation and you need a drastic change, when casting your spell for change, add Lunar Eclipse Water to draw on the phenomenal change shown as the moon cycles through all of its stages in a single instance. This water should not be used for simple situations in which a bit of change is needed. For example, if you want to switch from one position to another within a company. This is the water you use if you want to change industries, or changes countries of operation. If you want to leave your old self behind and construct an all new you, use Lunar Eclipse Water in your spell.
Remember that the specific properties of the Zodiac will be infused in the water, too. As well as using lunar-based waters, those who prize balance in their practice may opt to use solar-based water, as well.
Solar Water – Solar Water is highly charged water to use in concert with spells calling for ego, honor, dignity, power, and pride. If you have spells to increase your self-confidence, improve your leadership abilities and increase your vitality, using Solar Water to enhance the efficacy of the spell is perfect. Just as the sun brings so much life to the earth, Solar Water breathes new life into spells used, which incorporate this powerful water. If you time the period of gathering around peak sunspot activity, it gives the Solar Water and extra boost.
When crafting your moon and sun based waters, you might choose to add specific stones or even metals to the jar as well. This adds additional properties to the water. Some of the most popular are adding silver to moon-based waters and gold to sun-based waters. These tricks are popular with many witches.
Depending upon the source of the water, if it is clean enough, you may drink the waters and gain the energy of the water before practicing the spells, as well as adding the water to the spells. It is your magick, only you can decide how you want to practice it.
The crafting process for these waters is excessively easy. Simply fill a jar with water, add any stones, metals, herbs, etc, you wish to infuse into the water as well and close the jar lid tightly. For moon waters, take it outside after the sun has set in your area. Personally, I prefer to invert the jar to get the maximum coverage surface. Leave it outside in an area that is clear of brush, trees, and buildings so the moon has an opportunity to shine down upon the jar. Granted the actual light of the moon is not crucial (cloudy nights will still charge the water sufficiently for your use) but it gives the water a clearer taste. Simply remember to bring it in before sunup the next morning. Solar water is the exact opposite, of course, take the jar out after the sun has risen and bring it in before it sets. As I said, very simple indeed, any witch can do it!

What if i leave my moon water out past sunrise, will it still be affective?

Kevin, though the water will be charged by the moon you have chosen to set it in, its power will also include the sun power if left in the sunlight. Capisce? As such, depending on your intent for the water… it may either strengthen or dilute the usability of the water directly relating to your specific needs. Only you can decide if adding the power and properties of the sun and moon together is a good or bad thing for your particular use in your spell. Sometimes it helps, sometimes hinders.

I googled sun water. And the heading said both moon and sun water. But no explanation was given about sun water

I enjoyed visiting your new blog to cruise the info there. While the advice you give hre is fairly solid, I would also point out that certain plants, when intended for specific purposes, may be better served with Moon water, or Mars water, etc. as a booster. Solar water is a great multipurpose additive to the use of rainwater though, for energizing the greatest majority of plants so thank you for pointing the fact out to those reading info here.

Hi, I’m a new witch and I have a garden. I am wondering if you have a list of essential herbs to have in my garden. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A lot would depend on the types of spells you would like to be able to perform. Each witch’s garden would depend on their particular practice. I have a majority of my garden and witch’s cabinet dedicated to various healing spells as that is where I focus and excel with my personal practice. I would suggest looking at the types of spells you intend to do most often and choose plants that are the most common and helpful herbs for those spells.
The herbal correspondences I prefer to use are found here:

I mean I have a school. I just don’t have time to get the water out at sun up and get it in at sundown.

Ah, well, then you will not have a specific sun or moon water, you will have a hybrid with properties of the two. As long as you do not need the specific properties found in one or the other, you will still be empowering the water, you just will not be able to use it in target specific spells. If you need a specific sun or moon water, then you will simply have to find a way to make it work. I assume your magick is important enough to you that you will be able to find a way.

I would like to let you know that my magic is VERY important to me but also is my schooling. Although my mother is not to keen on me practicing witchcraft and waking up early just to fetch what she thinks is “just water”

Helen,
You dole out extremely limited information, expect me to read your mind, and then have the nerve to get pissy with me. Seriously? Look, you can mind your manners, at least pretend to act like a well-manner young lady instead of acting like a spoiled brat and stop trolling if you ever expect any help from people like me on the Internet. I did not reach out to you for help, you reached out to me. I am willing to help those who ask for it and who deserve it, but quite frankly, I am beginning to question if you have the temperament and will for magick from the way you are currently behaving.
Common sense would expect you to realize that if you have not the time do it on the days you have school, there are always the days you do not have school. If you live at home with mother and/or father who is not “too keen” and disapproves of witchcraft, then you may be required to wait until you are a grown adult and out on your own so you can decide for yourself how to live your life.

Aphrodite would be upset about this… I just posted a comment to ask a question to make it so I finally would be complete in my witchery lessons. I did not come to be insulted by a fellow sister.

LMAO! Really? If Aphrodite will be upset about you asking me for help, then why are you asking? She is not in the pantheon of entities that I work with, and as such, has no reason to bother with me since I do not bother her. If you are bothering her then I would suggest: Stop bothering her.
You know, if you will take the time to build a proper relationship with specific deities, or entities, you work with, then over time, you will develop a much clearer picture of what they expect from you on your end. Frankly, I doubt she will be too offended if you are making errors out of lack of experience, untested skills, or simple ignorance. If you make errors from willful stupidity because you did not bother to learn first, but started trying to command a deity to do your bidding as a puny little human with no lasting ties to her, no history with her, then better you than me and it was meh knowing you.
,
As for you completing whatever “witchery lessons” you may or may not be taking, I suggest you take the matter up with your teacher. You never approached me nor asked me to be your teacher, and I most certainly never accept that job. If I may be blunt, I feel the task would be too onerous having already spoken with you here. If you had bothered to look over this blog thoroughly, instead of cherry picking the bits you felt like learning and skipping the rest, you would know this already. As you did not bother, I have stated in many other places I do not take on anyone whom I feel to be unteachable. I do not take on children under the age of 18 without having physically met their parent(s) or guardian(s), having explained my path and having received their permission verbally and in writing to teach the child.
As for the comment about “fellow sister”, my mother passed into menopause in the late 1960s. You did not come from her womb, so you are not physically my sister. You have not been invited, unanimously accepted, and brought physically into our coven by myself or any other qualified member of our coven. Therefore, you are not a coven mate of mine. If you refer to the colloquial usage of the word sister, do not. When you study and learn a bit more, you will find that going about calling every witch your sister is rude and very offensive to a great many witches. We have people whom we may claim as family, but that does not include every jumped up wannabe of the IRABO tribe who speaks to us on the Internet.
Clear enough? Nah, do not bother to respond to that or the other questions. I am uninterested in any answers or further bleating as I can see from the way you have already behaved you are very young indeed and are merely attempting to appear older. You likely saw some tween movie, or teen TV show, or read a book about a tween or teen witch and thought it sounded cool. Or you want to dress in back, pretend to be scary, and have everyone at school think you are a witch so they leave you alone. Regardless, grow up, lose the smart-ass attitude and learn to use good manners, especially when asking for help. Read exhaustively on every subject you can find relating any field in which you have any interest, whatsoever. Take copious notes, formulate ideas, create hypotheses and use trial and error to prove or disprove them. Read some more, take more detailed notes and keep going. The only covens and/or teachers who will take on just any old person that asks are likely to be know nothing frauds, after your money or dangerous predators. If you doubt me and keep going on the way you are, you will be taken advantage of, robbed, physically harmed or possibly all of the aforementioned.

What if you cant get the water out into the sun at the right time and you can’t collect the water at the right time?

I am confused, the right time for what purpose? If for a specific use, the sun and moon always come back around, so if you miss one specific opportunity, there is always another to come. Perhaps I am missing something in the question?

Coolgir,
One becomes a witch through study and application of will, through reading and practice, through asking questions of yourself and your intent, and finding the answers in your dedicated search to get to the bottom/truth of the matter, IMO.

I would suggest deciding exactly what effects you want to garner from the solar water you want to create. Choose stones, metals, herbs, etc that will support your desires for the water and put them in the jar first. Decide the source of the water (spring, river, ocean, etc) that you feel will best support your intent and add it to the jar. If you want to call on specific deities, entities, spirit guides, etc., feel free to do so as you stage it for placement into direct sunlight. Leave it from sun up to sun down, bring it in afterward and you are good to go.

So, what (if any) are the effects of say, rainwater vs boiled water?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well, I prefer to use rainwater or river water but that is my way not the way. With boiled water, if it were boiled in a clean glass container I suppose it should not pick up anything from the glass that you do not intend. However, if boiled in a pan, be sure to remember the the action of boiling it will infuse it with power from the type of metal the pan is made out of, so be careful to make sure that the properties of the metal in the pan do not run counter to the properties of the water, stones, herbs, etc you may be using as you boil. Boiling the water, if you also sterilize the glass bottle/jar you intend to keep the water in, it should keep the water from stagnating for a much longer period of time as long as you are careful to avoid contaminating it with any tools you use to remove water from the jar.
